wilderness

“There was set before me a mighty hill,

And long days I climbed

Through regions of snow.

When I had before me the summit-view,

It seemed that my labor

Had been to see gardens

Lying at impossible distances.”

“...to see gardens lying at impossible distances.”

The land

somehow familiar yet distant,

forbidden,

unexplored.

A Wilderness,

a huge vista seen from an interior eye.

It is the initial confrontation

of the paradigm,

a panoramic expanse overwhelmingly beautiful and powerfully unfathomable in its complexity of detail

yet

with an inexplicably inviting

impression of simplicity.

It is

a place of adventure

and calm;

it is

as it explains

itself

to

the witness of a child,

to the emerging individual spirit.
